Engineering Company located in down town Santa Barbara in search of Applications Engineer. Fun and friendly environment with opportunity to travel.

Summary of position: Supports the Application Department with customer interaction and new product development by performing the following duties:

• Conceptualize products from blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction to develop and design new products, and improve existing products and assembly procedures.
• Reviews and recommends new equipment and machinery available from commercial sources.
• Trains staff in new techniques to improve productivity and reliability.
• Assists in all technical aspects of manufacturing, engineering and sales related matters.
• Interfaces directly with customers and through the sales department regarding product development, sample evaluations and custom products or techniques.
• Assists in the transfer of all new product information into the manufacturing department and provides initial training to pertinent employees.
• Travels to customer locations for installations, training or maintenance often on short notice.
• Understands and evaluates custom semi conductor samples for electrical defect detection.
• Responsible for compiling and presenting measured data on customer provided samples.
• Reports to the Director of Applications for assignments and guidance.

 

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

PREFERRED: Electrical Engineering Background is preferred. Fluent in Chinese and Japanese preferred.
